Our Club and Our Philosophy
The Katikati Sea Scouts, registered in 1946, are a long-standing, historic club with over 60 members. Our club hosts sea scouts of all ages with resident Keas, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers plus 7 warranted leaders. With all these different sub-groups we are catering for children and youth aged 5-18 years old. Our philosophy is to provide numerous opportunities in the outdoors, leadership and learning new skills sectors to the youths of Katikati.
Our Need
Our scout group currently resides in the Arthur Dick Scout Hall which was built by scout families in the year of 1975. However, the lease has now expired, as has the reserve where the hall is situated's management plan. This predicament leaves us with no security. So, if the Katikati Sports and Rec Centre were to become a reality, we would be able to use it as a new, treasured scout hall. The centre's facilities would also provide us with the opportunity to host scout weekend training sessions for the wider scouting community.
The Katikati chapter of Scouts NZ is a founding member of the Katikati Sport and Recreation centre.
